Computer-based Administration and Scoring Trainings Registration Information
The purposes of the Administration and Scoring Trainings for the 2020–21 computer-based Initial English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) are to train participants to:
- Standardize the administration of the ELPAC,
- Reliably score constructed-response items in Writing, and
- Train other qualified persons locally to administer the ELPAC.
This training will be a training-of-trainers model.
Registration opens Monday, February 3, 2020. Registration is available online only via the ELPAC Training registration site. The registration page can only be accessed with the secure access code provided in the email to the LEA ELPAC coordinator. Each LEA has been allocated one seat to attend the training; therefore, only the LEA ELPAC coordinator can submit a request to register participants for trainings. Subsequent registrants will be wait-listed for a possible last-minute opening at a training location. Prior to each training, available seats will be filled from the waiting list (see Waiting List section below). Participants must be registered and receive a registration confirmation email in order to gain entrance to a training. Drop-ins may be turned away due to capacity limitations.
Within five working days, a confirmation of registration status will be emailed to each registrant at the email address provided. Approximately one week before the training, a reminder email will be sent to each confirmed participant.
Registration for each training will close when the training is full, or 10 working days prior to the training, so please register early. LEA ELPAC coordinators may submit registration requests beyond the LEA's seat allocation of one, but these staff members will be placed on a waiting list. LEA ELPAC coordinators and staff members placed on the waiting list will receive an email confirmation that they are on the waiting list and will be notified seven days prior to the training if a seat is available.
Check-in and Refreshments
Check-in for each training will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the training will run from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Participants must stay for the entire training session to be considered as having attended.
Please note that all ELPAC Test Examiners are required to be trained in order to administer the 2020–21 Computer-based Initial ELPAC. To accommodate LEA training needs, many regional workshops around the state will be available. As each becomes available, the regional trainings will be posted on the ELPAC Website on the Regional Trainings web page.
