Administration and Scoring Trainings Registration Information

The purposes of the Administration and Scoring Trainings for the Initial Assessment of the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) are to train participants to:

  • Standardize the administration of the ELPAC,
  • Reliably score constructed-response items in Writing
  • Train other qualified persons locally to administer the ELPAC.

This training will be a “training-of-trainers” model.

Registration

Registration opens February 1. Only the local educational agency (LEA) ELPAC Coordinator can register participants for trainings. Registration is available online only via the registration page. The registration page can only be accessed with the secure access code provided in the email to the LEA ELPAC Coordinator. An LEA may register staff members on a first-come, first-served basis up to the LEA's maximum seat allocation. Subsequent registrants will be wait-listed for a possible last-minute slot in a training. Ten days prior to each training, available seats will be filled from the waiting list (see Waiting List section below). Participants must be registered and receive a registration confirmation email in order to gain entrance to a workshop. Drop-ins may be turned away due to capacity limitations.

Within five working days, a confirmation of registration status will be e-mailed to each registrant at the e-mail address provided. Approximately one week before the workshop, a reminder e-mail will be sent to each confirmed participant.

Waiting List

Registration for each training will close when the training is full, or 10 working days prior to the training, so please register early. LEA ELPAC Coordinators may submit registration beyond the LEA's seat allocation, but these staff members will be placed on a waiting list. Staff members placed on the waiting list will receive an e-mail confirmation that they are on the waiting list, and will be notified seven days prior to the training if a seat is available.

Check-in and Refreshments

Check-in for each workshop will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the training will run from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Participants must stay for the entire training to become certified.

Regional Workshops

Please note that all ELPAC Test Examiners are required to be trained to administer the Initial ELPAC Assessment. To accommodate your LEA’s training needs, many regional workshops around the state will be available. As each becomes available, the regional workshops will be posted on the ELPAC Web site on the Regional Trainings Web page.
